Bielsa El Loco
Tarot-inspired portrait of Marcelo Bielsa as El Loco — a cover built around risk, obsession, and the sense that glory and disaster were always neighbours.
About the Project
The largest name Leeds have had at the helm in decades. Based on the tarot card number 0 'The Fool' (or El Loco in Spanish). A burning success or a horrible failure depending on the card's positioning — I thought it captured the potential of Bielsa and Leeds fairly nicely.
Featured in L'equipe by Didier Roustan who had some kind words to say. I think. (18:15).
He was going to have a cheeky little smile before I realised the horror of it all and covered up my sins. Also featured in The Square Ball's 2018 Charity Calendar for Leeds Hospital Trust.
Print is available here. Process detailed here (sort of).
A curated image run built to let the print object, surface, and detail breathe on the page.
Open any figure to inspect surface, print detail, and framing more closely without losing the overall sequence. Motion plates play inline at full page size.
Sequence note
The closing plates are intended to read like a print-room pass: object, surface, and image held in sequence rather than treated as isolated uploads.
Deep zoom appendix
Print-resolution studies
These appendix plates are wired for the Deep Zoom lightbox flow described in the implementation spec: inspection JPEG first, then tiled print-resolution detail once the viewer is ready.
