David Villa
Unpublished David Villa commission, retained in the archive as a record of the work rather than an endorsement of its subject.
About the Project
Commissioned as part of an article on David Villa’s career at New York City FC, but never published after allegations of workplace abuse made continued use of the image inappropriate.
The piece remains in the archive as an example of the work itself rather than as a celebration of the individual depicted.
The distressed surface beneath the portrait comes from an older oil painting that had been left unvarnished for years, producing a damaged texture that became part of the final image.
A curated image run built to let the print object, surface, and detail breathe on the page.
Open any figure to inspect surface, print detail, and framing more closely without losing the overall sequence.
Sequence note
The closing plates are intended to read like a print-room pass: object, surface, and image held in sequence rather than treated as isolated uploads.
