About the Project
Created to mark the arrival of Japanese international Yosuke Ideguchi for The Square Ball in 2017.
In retrospect, the image has become a document of anticipation more than achievement: a cover for a player whose Leeds career never really had the chance to begin.
It is an early piece, but that is part of its value now — a snapshot of both the period and the strange optimism football can generate before reality gets involved.
